“Chief Minister, is there no limit to your Tughlaq Durbar?”
BJP’s Strong Opposition to Muslim Reservation – Vijayendra
Bengaluru: BJP State President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra has strongly objected to the Karnataka Congress government secretly introducing a bill granting reservations to Muslims in the Assembly yesterday.
Speaking to the media in front of Vidhana Soudha today, he accused the government of bypassing the opposition while presenting the bill. He stated that the BJP’s stance is clear and that the party strongly opposes the “Tughlaq Durbar” of the Siddaramaiah-led government. He emphasized that BJP will oppose this move both inside and outside the Assembly and, if necessary, challenge it in the Karnataka High Court.
“There is a limit to their misgovernance. Congress has resorted to minority appeasement politics. Does Siddaramaiah’s government genuinely care about minorities?” he questioned.
Vijayendra pointed out that despite ruling the country and state for around 50-55 years since independence, Congress failed to prioritize minority education and upliftment. He criticized Congress for lacking the political will to provide quality education to minorities and bring them forward.
He also accused Siddaramaiah of portraying the BJP as anti-minority. “BJP is not against Muslims. It was the Narendra Modi-led BJP government that abolished triple talaq to ensure justice for Muslim women,” he stated.
He highlighted that several schemes introduced by the central government, such as Jan Dhan accounts and the Ujjwala scheme, were not limited to Hindus alone. Similarly, Yediyurappa’s Bhagyalakshmi scheme was not restricted to Hindus.
“The Narendra Modi-led central government has implemented welfare programs for every citizen of this country. Unlike Congress, the BJP has not reduced Muslims to mere vote banks. Chief Minister, is there no limit to your Tughlaq Durbar? We strongly oppose the 4% reservation for Muslims in government contracts,” he warned.
Vijayendra added that BJP leaders will discuss and strategize their next course of action, both inside and outside the Assembly, before making a final decision.
