Day-and-Night Protest from April 2, District, Taluk, and Mandal Protests on April 5

Janakrosha Yatra from April 7 – Vijayendra

Bengaluru: The BJP will stage protests against the Karnataka Congress government, which is imposing financial burdens on the poor. BJP State President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra announced that the party will fight against the government’s policies to make them reconsider their decisions.

Speaking at an emergency press conference at the BJP state office, “Jagannath Bhavan,” in Malleswaram, Vijayendra said that a day-and-night protest against the Congress government’s price hikes will begin at Freedom Park, Bengaluru, on April 2 at 11 AM. All BJP MLAs, MLCs, former legislators, former council members, candidates who contested the state assembly elections, office bearers, district presidents, and party workers will participate in this protest.

In response to the suspension of eight BJP MLAs, a protest will also be held in front of the statue of Kengal Hanumanthaiah on the same day. The party will decide how long the protest will continue on April 2. On April 5, BJP workers will take to the streets in all district centers, taluks, and mandals across the state.

Janakrosha Yatra for Public Awareness from April 7

A state-wide awareness campaign, Janakrosha Yatra, will begin from Mysuru on April 7 at 3 PM, with Union Minister Pralhad Joshi inaugurating the movement. Vijayendra mentioned that he had discussed the campaign with Union Ministers Somanna and Shobha Karandlaje.

The protest schedule includes:

                •              April 7: Mysuru and Chamarajanagar

                •              April 8: Mandya (morning) and Hassan (afternoon)

                •              April 9: Kodagu and Mangaluru

                •              April 10: Udupi and Chikkamagaluru (first phase)

                •              April 13: Shivamogga and Uttara Kannada (second phase)

The movement will cover every district in the state. Each district will have a 2-3 km padayatra (foot march), followed by a public gathering addressed by BJP leaders.

Why Only for Muslims?

Vijayendra criticized the state budget, claiming that it favors minorities, particularly Muslims, while insulting Hindus. He argued that the Congress government’s policy of reserving 4% of government contracts for Muslims is unconstitutional.

He also pointed out that financial assistance for Muslim students pursuing higher education abroad was increased from ₹20 lakh to ₹30 lakh, and that the government had previously provided “Shaadi Bhagya” benefits for Muslim women. Now, the state is spending hundreds of crores on their self-defense programs and has increased salaries for Imams, he alleged.

Vijayendra questioned why such schemes are provided only for Muslims, arguing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s schemes, including Jan Dhan Yojana, benefit everyone regardless of religion. He noted that the Bhagyalakshmi Scheme under B.S. Yediyurappa was for all communities, not just Hindus. He accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of neglecting the Halumatha and Kayaka communities.

Misuse of ₹38,860 Crore Allocated for the Underprivileged

Vijayendra alleged that the Congress government misappropriated funds meant for the welfare of marginalized communities. He claimed that:

                •              In 2023-24, ₹11,144 crore from SCP and TSP funds were diverted elsewhere.

                •              In 2024-25, ₹14,282 crore was redirected.

                •              In 2025-26, ₹13,433 crore is projected to be misused.

He accused the Congress of using Scheduled Castes and Tribes for vote-bank politics while simultaneously harming their interests.

Congress Government’s Continuous Price Hikes

Since Congress came to power in Karnataka, Vijayendra alleged that prices of essential goods and services have been constantly increasing. He cited hikes in:

                •              Fuel Prices: Petrol and diesel

                •              Stamp Duty: Increased

                •              Milk Prices: Raised three times

                •              Metro Fares: Increased

                •              Medical Costs: OPD registration fees increased from ₹10 to ₹20; Post-mortem certificates from ₹250 to ₹300; Medical certificates from ₹250 to ₹300

                •              Taxes and Service Charges: Increased for various government services

                •              Water Tariffs: Hiked

                •              Seed Prices for Farmers: Raised

                •              Bus Fares: Increased

He claimed that due to these price hikes, Karnataka now has one of the highest living costs in the country, making life difficult for common people and farmers. The government is indifferent to their struggles and has become a burden on voters, he alleged.
